The carbon tub, and where the line is
The MonoCell and Monocage carbon structures are what a McLaren is. Aluminum front and rear frames carry the suspension, powertrain, and crash structures and attach to the tub, and the body panels attach to those. That layered arrangement is why a substantial front impact often means replacing an aluminum crash structure and some panels rather than repairing a deformed passenger cell.
Carbon does not show damage the way metal does. A component can absorb an impact, return to shape, and look perfect while the laminate inside has separated, so evaluation comes before assumptions. Where the tub itself is implicated, structural carbon repair requires a manufacturer-authorized path — we will tell you plainly and route it, because being the shop that says no to that work is what makes the rest of what we say worth anything.
