High voltage, and a pack that is part of the structure
Body work on a Rivian starts with the documented high-voltage shutdown and isolation procedure, verified before a panel is removed and before anything is cut, ground, or welded near the pack or its cabling. The pack spans the wheelbase in the floor and is integral to the platform's structure rather than bolted underneath it.
That means damage assessment includes the pack and its enclosure. Underbody strikes, rocker and sill impacts, and side collisions carry defined inspection requirements even on a vehicle that drove in with nothing displayed. A pack that has taken a hit has handling and observation requirements attached, and those get followed rather than judged.
Where the procedure calls for pack or high-voltage component service beyond what an independent shop may perform, we tell you and route that portion of the work rather than improvising a way around it.
- —Documented high-voltage shutdown and isolation before any body work
- —Structural pack and enclosure inspected after underbody impacts
- —Separated aluminum area with dedicated tooling
- —Three-dimensional structural measuring, before and after
- —Air suspension ride height set before sensor calibration
- —Corrosion protection and cavity treatment restored
